Cousin Joseph: A Graphic Novel by Jules Feiffer

3.0

This one is hard to say - did I like it or not? It took a while to get me interested, but eventually all the stories came together neatly. Pfeiffer's art lends a bit of uncertainty and murkiness that fits with the noir theme. I didn't realize until I finished it that this is the second in a trilogy. I don't think I'll seek out the others. After all, this seemed to stand on its own. Here's the thing that really bugs me though: It's SOOO didactic! The hit-you-over-the-head about the evils of control and censorship is annoying. So the artwork - yes, moody and perfect, but the story sometimes feels more like a sermon than a story.
