My Life as an Album Series by L.J. Evans
5.0
My Life as an Album (Books 1-4)
A Small Town, Southern Fiction Series
By: LJ Evans
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Michael Norman Johnson, Neill Thorne
There are so many times that a series is recommended to me, and with all the hype, the series does not live up to my expectations. LJ Evans My Life as an Album exceeded my expectations and more! 41 hours of story, all tied together with fragments of songs and I never wanted it to stop. Each story stands alone, but there are recurring characters. The first one gives us that once in a lifetime love. The one boy we fall in love with when we are young and know we will marry. Cam and Jake were this couple. Next we have Mia and Derek. Now I loved Cam and Jake and felt the incredible emotions of that story, but I really loved how Mia's character came through it all. These two had quite a ride working through so many issues and Derek had me swooning. Rock Album was so much fun because I love Bon Jovi. Yes, the story is good, but being an 80's girl had me loving the beginning of each chapter! This one is alternating points of view with PJ and letters from Seth. It gives us a great insight to both sides and making us feel it all. The love, the frustration, the fear and the desire. It's all there in both of them. Evans also adds a thread of suspense, which I loved! Mix Tape has all the fun and emotional songs and lets us live with Lonnie and Wynn. Not only was this a couple easy to fall in love with, but the slow burn made it that much sweeter. And Edie!!! What a doll. Ending this fantastic series is a novella that brings everything full circle for Cam and it's so wonderful. It's like the bow on a present. This is more than a story. It's the kind of book that resonates with you, gives you all the feels and will give you a warm heart. Make sure to pick this one up!
Sarah Puckett is narrates in all 4 of the books and what a performance. Each one fits the female lead perfectly. Her talent brings out everything these women felt and truly makes the story come alive. She is amongst two other fabulous narrators. Neill Thorne narrates Seth in My Life as a Rock Album and he fits the part. He gives Seth creates all facets of his personality and lets it out in those letters. Followed by Michael Norman Johnson as Lonnie and Blake in My Life as a Mix Tape and Cam. Each one is amazing and lets us feel and understand each character. The choice of these narrators for me was key to making the stories. Enhancing the books with these voices made it come alive and had me hooked.
