Beach Read by Emily Henry

emotional funny medium-paced

5.0

This book is for the hopeless romantic. Beach Read is about two struggling (each in their own way) writers who found each other (again) when they were least expecting it. January and Gus are two relatable characters whose story resonates with people in all parts of life. Each character is recovering from their own traumas and find peace (to some degree) in friendship and companionship with the other. The story illustrates the fragility and vulnerability that forming strong relationships requires.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book (because I AM a romantic). I'm rating five stars because I didn't find much to dislike about this story. Some words and phrases were repeated a few times, but it was not so much that it took me too far out of the story. Oh, I did not like one thing: Does January get ANY good coffee? A barista that "does not drink espresso" should be illegal. What is undeniably certain is that Henry wrote two adorably cute and tender characters that resonate with readers. I recommend this book to readers who love romantic comedy, reading about love, and love falling in love with characters (falling in love).
