ARC COPY REVIEW
Ashley has done it again. She seems right at home in a lower-stakes cozy environment with minimal stressors for her characters, and her character writing really had a chance to shine here.
Where her past titles have been a little more humorous, I feel this was a taken a little more seriously. Which I am glad for with Ember's past. There were still plenty of giggles to be had though! Even with the darker themes, setting, and the arrival of Ember and the other women, it still felt comforting and safe.
Topics of SA were handled well and without shame from the MMC or anyone else. Ember's trauma was treated with respect and she's given space to begin her healing. It's refreshing to see that things aren't completely perfect, HEA at the ending but instead is left with room to grow and change and that both characters give each other the room they need.
Overall a great intro to the series and I'm looking forward to more!
