This isn't the version I read, but it doesn't matter anyway because I bailed after 9 minutes of reading and listened to an audiobook on YouTube. Who knows what version they read from. One of my book club members chose this book. It’s been on my tbr for over a decade, but like most of the classics, I kept saving it for later. I’m glad I can finally cross one off my lengthy list, but wow this was grueling. While I recognize and appreciate the cultural impact this book has had over the years, it was very much not my thing.
