The Universe in a Single Atom by Dalai Lama XIV
4.0

I enjoy the HH The Dalai Lama's books, and this was no exception. Here he reflects upon his many discussions and readings of contemporary science to reveal its limitations, its ideological frameworks, which might be strengthened by religion, especially Buddhism. Fundamentally, the Dalai Lama argues that the effects of the physical world are measured both by the empirical causes which propel them and the intentional causes of humans which motivate them. Thus, to consider only one approach to cause-effect is to be self-blinding. He goes on to demonstrate how various fields of science all but point out this error and yet fail to acknowledge it in practice. As always, a mesmerizing (though at times drier than his other works) reflection upon the world and our daily practices in it.
