Blaze by Stephen King, Richard Bachman

3.0

I’ve sat on this book for a few years now and never felt overly compelled to read it. No real reason, just that I’ve never enjoyed his ‘Bachman Books’ as much. This doesn’t really feel like a Bachman book though, more like King at half power.

The story is basic but rattles along and Blaze is a compelling character, almost one note but perhaps rescued from this by not being quite a incompetent as he first seems. Still, there aren’t any great surprises and the ending just feels inevitable without saying much. It’s not bad but King can do so much better than this. A minor footnote in his oeuvre.
