The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis
4.0
As always, C.S. Lewis delivered a fantastic children's story replete with metaphors. "The Silver Chair" has a new twist, however. In this book, Lewis introduces a subterranean world beneath Narnia ruled by a conniving witch. I quite enjoyed this section of the book and found great similarities between it and the now-stereotypical subterranean worlds of Middle Earth, Golarion, and the Forgotten Realms.
There is very little else I can offer in this review other than to praise Lewis' writing and compare it to his other works. "The Silver Chair" isn't as strong as "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" or even "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." That said, it is still a remarkable book that my son and I enjoyed from beginning to end. My son is engrossed enough in these tales to request that we begin the next book in the series within seconds of finishing one.
