The Original of Laura by Vladimir Nabokov

I'm not sure what to rate this book. It isn't as if I didn't like it--I did! I liked it a lot, and I can see where a great novel would have emerged. But this book was confusing, to say the least. And if you know anything about Nabokov or writing in general, that isn't surprising. I don't think I can rate this because that isn't fair to Nabokov, who I have so much respect for, or to myself. But I got to see enough to know I would have loved this as a complete novel. Amazing. If I could write half as well on the first try I'd be a millionaire.
