I am not a romance girly, but this one got me.

The characters felt relatable and the story, while cheesy at times, felt very “real to life”. Life is cheesy some times, and B.K. balanced that perfectly in my opinion.

The “spicier” scenes weren’t tragically unrealistic or cringey, they were endearing and you could feel their bond. And it wasn’t over the top. Maybe they are typical tropes, but again, I don’t read contemporary romance.

I loved the premise of this book and couldn’t put it down. It was definitely a “book of the summer” kinda vibe. It was a bop and would recommend for sure. I loved the range of characters, LGBTQ+ representation, a not so typical female main character, and a male main character that really needs therapy 😬. That might be my main gripe about this book, was he was grumpy grumpy. I could relate to him and he fear of loss, especially as someone who has lost a lot of people in her life really really young it’s hard to cope with especially if they people around you are acting like “everything is fine” to your face but you can hear them crying.

I would maybe say this is 4.5 instead of a 5, but definitely leans 5 over 4.

I laughed, I cried, I tossed the book in frustration but simultaneously ran to read the next chapter. It was a lovely and very well written novel and it left me wanting more. It gave me everything I would want as a reader who is exploring genres out of her comfort zone.
