While I am not generally a fan of the horror genre in any medium, this is one of those books that many people have been telling me to check out for quite some time (along with The Amityville Horror, which I reviewed a couple of weeks ago). Furthermore, the film version of The Exorcist is the most terrifying movie I have ever seen - I couldn't even imagine what my mind would do with the written form.

I found myself completely engaged in the story, which was pretty well written (I was surprised), and was entertained. In this case, I think the movie trumps the book. I was not nearly as terrified as I was when I saw the movie, even though some of the imagery and language will continue to haunt me...
