The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

5.0

This book uses the young adult format to convey a timely and powerful story. The main character was realistic and beautifully written, and I found myself crying a few times in the middle when the enormity of what Starr was going through overwhelmed me.

SpoilerIt did feel that it wrapped up a little too simply: all the storylines finished at the same time, with a neat little bow on them. Everyone got the happiest ending that they could, but this is young adult and not adult so it didn't feel too out of place.
