In the meticulously planned suburb of Shaker Heights, Elena Richardson lives by the rules—until Mia Warren, an enigmatic artist & single mother, moves in with her daughter Pearl. Their presence disrupts the community, especially when a custody battle over a Chinese-American baby divides the town, pitting Elena & Mia against each other. Elena’s obsession with Mia’s mysterious past leads to unforeseen and devastating consequences.
Did a combo of audio & physical.
I'm having a hard time coming up with constructive comments/thoughts for this review. I just keep coming back to - I stuck with it, hoping for something more, and it just didn't deliver. There weren't any big plots twists or surprises that made me clutch my pearls, and I felt like I wasn't particularly tied to any of the characters - and there were PLENTY of those, I think maybe too many characters. This is a book where I finished and thought, 'What was the point to what I just read?' Which is so frustrating to me.
