"and i do find it comforting that maybe when you die you get back all the things you've lost, like your legs, or your parents, or your daughters, or even your mom, and you get to eat all the ice cream you want, finally, and it doesn't hurt one bit."
okay i know that quote probably doesn't make much sense out of context (the ice cream symbolises something), but this book was so, so good. the way the story was written was so utterly moving, and i felt so much for tiger throughout the whole book. it's so powerful when a book has the ability to make you feel so much empathy for a situation that you have absolutely no experience with and this book just made me want to cry so many times but it was so, so good. the language and the way the author described everything was so vivid it was heartbreaking to see what this girl was going through. the way she talks about grief and the pain of living with everything you've lost and trying to find out who you are when you're so young, and with barely any role models in your life, was so depressing but so good because the end was very hopeful, and showed that even if it feels like there will always be a hole in your heart where that person was, you will get through it and build a life for yourself and that you control your own destiny. and the fact that at the end of the book i found out that it's based on a true story??? i feel so sad. but i LOVE the ending. i think it was the perfect conclusion to the story and it's always really satisfying when that happens. i might change my review to 4 stars in the future bc sometimes my opinion on a book changes with time, but this book was so impactful and i feel like i will always remember it so i'm giving ig 5 stars at the moment because i just finished it and these are my fresh thoughts.
