There is something so incredibly spectacular about a book that is able to shut out the real world through the vivid imagery and completely immerse a person in the plot and characters. I truly found myself lost while reading, often staggering through the rough terrain of the Essam woods. I fell hopelessly in love with all of the characters, from Sylvia and Arin to Sefa, Malek, Rory, and Fairel, each character was unique and crucial.

The tension and yearning in this book was phenomenal. I am not someone who enjoys insta love/romantic plots with no stakes. The sacrifices, the secrets, the soul consuming love, I am truly at a loss for words.

I have to circle back on the world building because it was phenomenal. While confusing at the beginning, after a few chapters the sheer creativity is undeniable. I felt like these places were real. The scenery and cultures was so amaziny described that at some point it felt as if I was there, as if these places were real! I am absolutely awestruck.

Finally, IF THEY ALL DON’T GET A HAPPY ENDING I SWEAR TO ALL OF THE GODS I WILL RIOT. SYLVIA NEEDS PEACE, ARIN NEEDS SYLVIA, AND MY FAVORITE SIDE CHARACTERS NEED TO BE HAPPY TOO. THAT ENDING HAS ME SQUEALING LIKE A LOPSIDED BOAR IN DESPERATE NEED OF A MUD PIT. I. NEED. MORE.
