The Diary of Mattie Spenser
by Sandra Dallas
My mom got me started on this author and this was the first book of hers that I read. It was (and remains) the first book that I have read within a couple days. There was so much foreshadowing yet you had no idea what was going to come next. Several times I verbally gasped "NO!" I appreciate when a story is historically accurate because I think it is shows more care for the overall story when it comes to historical fiction. But be warned the characters do have ideals that would have been common for their time! If you are the mood for a light suspense, this is the perfect book.
