This was a strange book for me to actually mark up. I think i'd give it 4 and 1/2 but the system won't let me.
Why not 5 you ask. Well for a couple of reasons.
*Lash - I have had this discussion with other readers and though they make good points about why he wants to get his feet under the table before taking on the brothers and he needs to have the resources to do this, thus turns to the drug trafficing, but I just felt that he wasn't a good baddy. He is still very much wrapped up in how to be the big cheese. JM and Qhuinn were responsible for his death, but its not until the last few chapters, when he is squaring up to the boys that this is mentioned.
*The character of JM - I'm sorry but I have no sympathy or anything for him at all. Yes, he went through a rouch time with Tohr's disappearance, Welsies death, but he is acting like a surly teenaged (which I supose he is). And as for the whole Xhex thing....
These detracted from the whole Wrath trying to be dethroned, Rhev's story etc for me. So hence the half point deduction.
I did like Rhevs story and the fact he would do anything for his family. I also loved the little twist between Lash and the person who wanted him to do a job for them. Brilliantly crafted
I'm still looking forward to Lover Mine and hope it will flesh out JM a bit better.
