Earthbound by Aprilynne Pike

5.0

Oh my goodness gracious! I freaking loved this book! Aprilynne Pike has completely stepped up in her new series Earthbound, I for one really liked her novel Wings, but this was something completely of its own! Fans of Aprilynne Pike will adore this, and people that maybe are not currently Aprilynne Pike fans really need to give her another shot with her new Earthbound series! I am totally fan-girling over this and cannot WAIT to get my hands on book two!

Okay so lets cut right to the chase and talk about the romance, I am a HUGE lover of romance in my novels! If a book has a cruddy romance or no romance at all, it is very hard for me to enjoy the book. The romance in Earthbound was wonderful! I felt the love triangle was a nice one, it didn't annoy me that Tavia found herself confused between the two guys, I found it easy to understand her predicament. I also liked that even though the blurb makes it sound like the love triangle is front and center, it wasn't in my opinion. Was it there? Yes, but it was subtle and never annoying. So if you are someone that hates love triangles, this would still be a book I would recommend and you may enjoy despite there being a love triangle.

The characters in Earthbound were another thing I found myself enjoying while reading. Each of them were unique, and did not lack depth what so ever. One thing I really loved about the characters in Earthbound was that none of them were predictable! I was never quite sure how the characters were going to react or what each character was REALLY up to. This made the reading experience all the more enjoyable. My favorite characters were easily our three main characters Tavia, Benson, and Quinn. Tavia being the ultimate favorite, she is such a strong character, and a realistically strong character at that, did she have weak moments? Yes of course! But that made her seem all the more real and made me love her even more. Benson and Quinn are great matches to have apart of a love triangle, they are each so different than the other, and I can easily say that these are two guys that readers are going to love big time (book boyfriend material!)

Besides the romance, and the characters the book itself was written amazingly. While like I said before I did love Wings, I feel personally in Earthbound you can see alot of growth in Aprilynne Pike's writing. She is an author I can now honestly say I think is going to keep getting better and better with each book she releases. Earthbound was descriptive, without being too descriptive. It had the perfect pace, never did I feel bored or that things were going too slow, I also never felt things were being rushed and going too fast. Everything flowed nicely, dialogue was great, scenery was great, I just really have no complaints when it comes to Aprilynne's writing in Earthbound, I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.

Overall, as you can tell I just really loved this book. If you are an Apirlynne Pike fan, you will not be disappointed with Earthbound. If you have never read Aprilynne Pike's work, well then Earthbound would be a pretty epic place to start with her books, if you are not a fan of Aprilynne Pike, I would seriously recommend you giving her new novel Earthbound a try anyways. This is an awesome start to what I hope is going to be an epic series, Earthbound will keep your attention, and then leave you seriously dying for book 2 with it's ending!
