The Lord of Night is a spin-off of The Storm Runner, some things are mentioned from the previous saga, so I recommend reading it first if you want all the facts; although it is not strictly necessary.

Ren Santiago is a witty character, brave and strong, she lives with her grandfather, spends time with her friends, and investigates aliens in her free time, she looks like a normal pre-teen, but she is not, she is a shadow witch and very powerful.

Love the new characters, when Ren can't contact his friends (from the previous saga) two new companions join her: Edison (half-demon, and all his knowledge about humans is from the 80s and 90s movies) and Monty a kid warrior Aztec who wants to uphold her family lineage.

It's a fast-read story, full of action and adventure, I loved that it intertwines Mayan and Aztec myths, it ends with a cliffhanger so I can't wait for the next one.

Thank you Rockstar Book Tours and, Disney Books and J.C. Cervantes for the early copy.
