The Black Ice by Michael Connelly

4.5

An excellent stand alone thriller that has aged really well (it's set in the 90s, obviously, but the writing itself doesn't betray its age).  In this one all the political games within the L.A. institutions start coming to the forefront, and Connelly starts developing his long term plans for the characters and series as he leaves plenty of intriguing breadcrumbs to catch the reader's attention.
