Do It Like a Woman... and Change the World by Caroline Criado Pérez

5.0

A surprisingly good read for a book so full of facts and stats and acts, this gripped me from the first anecdote and confirmed a lot of sad truths about why feminism is so important today. Perhaps preaching to the converted, but Criado-Perez's accessible style (the audiobook is narrated by her too) brings humour, urgency and humanity to the stories of these amazing women doing amazing things. Sometimes the amazing things are as simple as driving a car, sometimes it’s more like becoming the country’s first female fighter pilot. The loose structure hangs together and is linked nicely by Criado-Perez's interviews with women, and it’s nice to hear their stories being told in their own words. A book which made me full of rage and well up and also be glad that there are women who have the fight left in them to tell the patriarchy to eff off in spite of the odds stacked against them.
