I will start off by saying I liked this book. It was kind of split into three parts: before deployment, deployment, and after. Although I think it was a good idea to include the deployment period to show how Harper grew as a person and became a part of the community, it was a larger chunk that I anticipated. It made the relationship part of the book smaller, and I think that was a detriment to their overall story. I'm always leary of reading military stories because as a military wife, if the author isn't accurate in the portrayal, it is very obvious to me. I think Ms. Score did a good job with this aspect.
Overall though, this wasn't my favorite book by Ms. Score. It was missing a lot of the banter that her books tend to have which is one my favorite parts of her writing. I liked it, but didn't love it.
