The Maid by Nita Prose

4.0

I loved Molly so much! Her character was so unique and it was so interesting being in her mind the whole time. I hate how she was taken advantage of by many and how she was viewed, but at the end of the book we can really see how she’s grown and is proud to be who she is. Her monologue in the court room was very touching and made me feel for her. Overall her character was very well written and was different than any other book I’ve read.

I’m so glad she had people like Mr Preston, Charlotte, and Juan Manuel in her life; she deserved it so much after being used by so many others. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I found myself a little bored a few times of how the story was progressing. I felt that a few flashbacks from when Gran was alive could have been shortened and were a little too long for my liking. I think Gran held Molly back a little bit too when she was alive and we see that after she’s gone, having people from the outside world in around her, helped her grow. I was also surprised about who actually killed Mr Black but also not surprised after reading it. And the way Molly killed her grandmother too, was a little shocking and I don’t understand it fully.

I can’t wait to read the 2nd Molly the Maid book!
