I had higher hopes for this book, because it promises all of Anne’s dreams to come true. She finally married Gilbert, becomes a mother, and builds her own home. But Anne felt like a minor character who only talks with other, more interesting characters like Captain Jim and Leslie. Anne feels so flat: she allows a few characters—including Gilbert—to make decisions without her because she is an “illogical woman,” and she she gives up her writing dream and allows a man to do it instead of her . I miss my more headstrong, imaginative Anne that we got to know throughout the series. She is not in this book.
