This is a pretty bleak story that will haunt me for a long, long time. The characters are meant to be distant and ineffable. The writing style is meant to be a bit fragmented, a bit repetitive…these are memories recounted years after inexplicable adolescent events all wrapped in the nostalgia of the golden period of post WW2 American suburbia. It’s naive and sorrowful and leaves you longing for something you can’t even articulate…worth the read and likely several re-reads as well.
