Layla by Colleen Hoover
3.0

I don't know how I feel about this book. Like I applaud Colleen for writing something completely out of her comfort zone of new adult romances, but I just didn't get this book.

The characters were ok, but I didn't really connect to Leeds or Layla, and I feel I would've connected more if we had Layla's POV. I found Leeds slightly annoying and kind of self-centered, and I don't think that the characters were fully fleshed out. I don't know, it is hard to write a review when you don't know how you feel lol.

I think the overarching theme of how souls connect, no matter what realm of existence we are in, was beautiful. I loved how Leeds and Layla first met, and how we knew she was the one. I loved how he described her and we knew he would do absolutely anything for her (literally, he did).

I usually really like Colleen's writing, and whilst there was nothing bad about the writing, there was also nothing outstanding. In saying that though, it was a really easy read and quick to get through which has to be credited to the pacing of the writing.

Whilst this was a paranormal romance, I did not feel scared one bit and I feel like I can be easily scared. So if you are after like an easy, not too spooky introduction to paranormal fiction or paranormal romance, then I would recommend it.

Overall, it was a quick read which i enjoyed in parts and not so much in others, but was great to get off my tbr lol.
