Dragonfly in Amber
by Diana Gabaldon
I would have liked this book much more if it hadn’t been so long. Some of the detailed little scenes are so unnecessary to the story and some of the scenes are just unnecessarily crude. I was disappointed with how this second book began, but I liked much of the story in between the beginning and end. Claire and Jamie’s love story is amazing, and I like several of the other characters (the author does a good job with character development, but how could she not with so many pages to achieve it). I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep reading or just watch the series. I like the stories, but they are just too long. I just read a 421 page book in a little over two days on a cruise vacation, but it took me almost three weeks to get through this one. It’s just so tedious. I’m excited to finish Season 1 and watch Season 2 of the series, then I guess I’ll see how long the next book is.
