I have read all three of Alex Michaelides books in the proper order The Silent Patient, The Maidens and the Fury and have waited to post my review until I've read all three due to some book character overlaps. This review will only be about The Silent Patient. Being a fantasy girlie this isn't my typical style of read, but when the book club picks it, you go with it.

Alex Michaelides wrote a 5 star book. Is it possible I loved it so much because I'm secretly hugely into mystery/thrillers and I just didn't know it? Maybe, but hey if you're like me, give it a whirl because you may also be thrilled you did. When it comes to book club books, I never read what the book is about, I like to go in completely free of all expectations. I suggest you do the same for this one, there are so many reviews that are all over the place, stop reading now and just go read the book!

The ending of this book, or rather, the twist that unravels everything blew my mind. So often I see the ending of the book coming in the first few chapters. That is not the case here, I definitely had suspicions and ideas and some were on the right lines but I never in a million years would have guessed the reveal.

The worse part about my experience with this book is that I couldn't read it in one sitting due to outside commitments. So if you're reading this review and you haven't read the book yet (why didn't you listen to me above and stop?! lol) then do yourself a favour and only start when you don't have any other plans.

I've read other mystery/thrillers since and while I've read some good ones, no one has earned a 5 star in this genre yet (as of writing this review). Alex gets 5 stars for completely surprising me with the best twist in literary works to date.
