In the Unlikely Event
by Judy Blume
I thought the majority of the novel would be Miri's return to Elizabeth, NJ. However, the majority of the novel was her childhood and the experiences she and those around her endured during the three major plane crashes depicted in the novel. It took me about 75-100 pages to really get into this novel and understand the relationships between all the characters, but then I was completely hooked. There are some parts of the novel that drag and I wish the section of the novel when Miri returns to Elizabeth was longer, but it was still a good novel. If you enjoy good characterization techniques, then you'll probably like this novel. Blume is a master of character development in this novel.
