So I’ve had this book sat on my shelf since the movie adaption was released but never got around to reading it. I’m glad I have.

Anyone who has not read the book but has watched the fantastic movie, this book is almost nothing like the movie. We have the same names of certain characters and certain aspects scenes or small parts are adapted or echoed but this is a much more character driven (ha!) fleshed out story of Driver.

I am glad I had the ability to separate the movie and book as different entities. This book is a great read. It’s dark, humorous at times and really paints a mysterious yet deep mindset to Driver.

The back and forth and time jumps were a bit of a mind boggle to begin with but once I realised the format, it was actually really enjoyable to have moments of levity. The character of Driver is just as cool and brutal as the film but as I’ve said, there’s more depth in the book and I wish we could explore that more.

Fun quick read that is nearly 14 years too late in my opinion.
