No Strings by Mila Hart
Erotic Romance Novella, standalone in a series
I was excited to read No Strings because of the authors that make up Mila Hart: Stephie Walls and Kristie Leigh (Kristie’s debut). But I honestly didn’t register that the type of books they write are short erotic romances. I’m not sure why I thought it was rom-com so I was a little surprised at first. I want to say straight up that this is not my normal genre. But if you are a fan of some of the other author duos who write erotic novellas, then No Strings is totally up your alley.

When we first met Brayleigh, I had some mixed feelings. I love that she was not a virgin and made no apologies for being a sexual creature.
“One and done. In and out. Guys did it all the time, and I wouldn’t apologize for having a good time.”

But with her being a socialite, having rich entitled friends and enjoying the hookup, I felt like she and her friends were the girls you love to hate, you know, the ones that flirt with your guy without a care. Nothing they did made me like them, they just seemed like rich snobs. But once she hooked up with Carter, the hot birthday guy she met in a bar, I started warming up to her.

I loved Carter right away, he was the perfect alpha who needed a good woman, but only wanted no-strings. They both couldn’t forget the other, but they both knew the rules. One night, no strings.
“I could tell by looking at her, she wasn’t the fireman’s girlfriend type, which worked out perfectly because this fireman wasn’t looking for a girlfriend. Just a night."

But when they are thrown together again, will the spark turn into a flame that can’t be extinguished?

When they meet again and we get to know Brayleigh more I warmed up to her a lot and really liked them together. Plus the sex was HOT.

Likes:

  • •A quick one-sitting read (also one-handed!)

  • •Very hot.

  • •It felt complete which I find rare for novellas.

  • •By the end I loved all the characters.

Dislikes:

  • •I REALLY disliked the heroine and her friends at first, but luckily they grew on me.

  • •There were a few minor details that didn’t make sense. I had an ARC, so these may have been fixed prior to release.

The Down & Dirty:

I didn’t realize that No Strings was a short erotic romance (though it says it on all their branding!) and honestly, that isn’t my normal read. I feel like I can’t rate a novella on the same scale as a full-length book because there is no way that ANY novella will live up. But if you know going in that it’s a short, erotic romance in the same style as a few other writing teams, then I think you will find this a very enjoyable read. I will admit though, that loving the heroine of a story is my necessity in loving a book, and at first, I really disliked Brayleigh. Though she won me over in the end, as did the whole story, if it wasn’t an ARC I had committed to read I would probably have DNFd.
I am SO GLAD I stuck it out and got to know the real Brayleigh behind the society bitch, and now that I know what to expect, I am really looking forward to the next Mila Hart story.

Rating (Novella Rating): 4 Stars, 4.75 Heat
