I’m absolutely gutted. This might be my favorite book this year. At its core, The Knight and the Moth is a beautiful dark fairytale. If you enjoy a T.Kingfisher book, this might be your next good read. Knight and the Moth is chock-a-block with political intrigue, a hearty helping of found family, and beautiful writing. Gillig does a great job making tense scenes that can make a reader stress out also have good comedic timing. I loved the themes of taking down the system and a character’s personal journey through cognitive dissonance. (I see you,Rachel. It’s like you’re staring straight into my brain, girl.)
Do You Need to Read the Shepherd King Duology Before Picking this book up? Nope. They are two totally different worlds. And if you picked up One Dark Window and didn’t like it(I guess we can still be friends😜🙃😆😆), I’d say pick this book up! After reading her first two books, I’d say that Gillig has really hit her stride with The Knight and the Moth. She has merged all of the things of the first duology that I loved: cool magic system, interesting world(One Dark Window) and humor, heart, dislike to love, and banter (Two Twisted Crowns) and has made one beautiful book.
My only issue now is waiting for the final book in this series. Ugh. 😭😭
