In my experience, fantasy writers are fantasy writers, period. Attempts to cross genres are never successful. So it was with no small amount of trepidation that I picked up a thriller by one of my all-time favorite fantasy writers, but I was certainty not disappointed. It was a fantastic read! I can't say enough for this book that I could hardly bear to put down. There's no magic or fantasy here, but I was happy to see that Goodkind once again did a wonderful job writing a strong female lead, which he always does exceptionally well. I certainly hope that this book will lead to another series, because I can't wait for more!!!
I will add one small warning for anyone considering this book - it is REALLY dark, especially by comparison with what he usually writes. If really grim, dark books aren't your cup of tea, pass on this one. Otherwise, enjoy!
