This Body's Not Big Enough for Both of Us by Edgar Cantero
4.0
This book had a hell of an opening, a hell of a middle, and a hell of an ending. Cantero has a very bombastic and exaggerated sense of plot and character, which makes sense given his cartoonist background--but he pulls it off extremely well. His writing is very clever and self-aware, but not in a way that's annoying or pretentious. He's not afraid to experiment and jump around with style and presentation, which I enjoyed, though it did make the book feel choppy at points.
I absolutely sailed through this book--the pace was very quick, and the tension was always high. It never felt rushed, but I also wouldn't have minded if he gave his characters some time to stretch and breathe, because they were such wonderful characters. His cast is rich and intriguing, and I would have liked a little time to get to know them better, despite how caught I was by the constant turns of the plot. Overall, a very enjoyable read.
