This book is like a series of snapshots in a brilliant 1950s womans life on her path to find her place whilst not compromising her values and goals and the struggles in doing so. I had a lot of fun reading this book. My heart also squeezed at multiple times. To think that now the situation is not necessarily much better for woman all around the globe and to think that people would want to go back to those times where women did not even have a choice to be taken seriously is outrageous.

My only small gripe with this book is that we in the end didn’t get to see her focus on her life work. I would have loved to see her flourish, to see her healed because the majority if not all of the book she is sad for various reasons. And i understand how and why the end was written that way but because of her main grievances being that she doesnt get taken seriously as a chemist, it would have been nice to show her doing the work that she love at least a bit.
