I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death
by Maggie O'Farrell
This was another book club read and I devoured it in a few days. The author discusses seventeen literal brushes with death she’s experienced; from running out in traffic as a child to a botched c-section to several near-drownings. The story jumped around in time, which actually made it pretty exciting. This book made me realize that we all face brushes with death constantly; we just may not be aware of it. The last chapter of the book was face-paced and gut-wrenching, and I found myself cheering for the determination of this woman. “I will be thinking, oh no you don’t. Not now, not here. You’re not getting her, not today, not any time soon.”
