5 Presidential Stars
It always makes me so happy when a hugely anticipated release like this one ends up meeting all my expectations. This book was everything I wanted and more. It didn’t have a bunch of unexpected plot twists or huge surprises, but it was a fantastic conclusion to the White House duet nonetheless. Everything I loved about the first book was back in this one and then some. A hot, brainy, wholesome, virile hero, a likeable heroine, scorching hot sex. I want to lick my fingers.

Book one, Mr. President, deals with Matthew’s presidential campaign and his covert affair with his campaign aide, a former senator’s daughter, Charlotte Wells. I absolutely loved that first book. It was like nothing I’d read before and surprisingly, the whole presidential aspect worked extremely well as a romantic fantasy for me. In the end, though, things were uncertain between Charlotte and Matt considering his rise to power and what that meant for them as a couple.

In this second and final book, Matthew Hamilton is now the POTUS. He misses Charlotte and takes it upon himself to get her back so he can try his hand at both being the president and being a man as well. He wants to do it all despite his fears.

Gosh, I just really loved this duet. There was a lot of sex in it, I mean a lot, but it was all so blistering hot that I didn’t care. I normally dislike it when there is way too much focus on the sex scenes, but here I felt like I couldn’t get enough. Being in the shoes of a first lady of the United States was such a different and heady experience. I could feel every trace of awe and admiration Charlotte felt for Matt and that only made things hotter for me. It simply worked.

I don’t worry too much about the whole thing being unrealistic or a bit too predictable. Katy Evans’ writing is flawless here. It’s smooth and simplistic, perfect for what it’s trying to accomplish. It’s an unabashed fantasy, almost a fairytale.

I talked about it some with my husband, who is an avid action movie consumer (he loves Scandal and 24 and all that good stuff) and he did have a laugh at a bunch of situations that he considered completely preposterous. I giggled because even though he’s right, of course, this doesn’t claim to be accurate to real life. It’s just something to lose yourself in. It was so amazing to fantasize about being with the most powerful man in the world and live at the White House. I loved the glamour, the ceremony, the motorcades and balls and just everything that goes with it. Just sign me the heck up!

I adored this duet. It was like nothing I’ve read before and I highly recommend it. Katy, to me, is one of the best romance writers out there right now and this is a good example why.
