This is a short read that somehow manages to pack generations' worth of family history in it. I liked the "past" chapters the best - the opening with the cigar factory was so vivid and interesting especially. All of the characters were well-described but still had parts that felt unreachable and distant, which really lent itself well to the story. I liked this overall, but would have loved a fully historical fiction version of it even more!
Graphic: Drug abuse and Addiction
