Not as good as book 1 on a few points.
The plot was driven primarily by interrogation. There was a constant stream of person-of-interests being questioned by Din and this got quite boring and slow. In book 1, it was more interesting to see Din as a detective rather than interrogator.
The imagery of the scale of the Shroud and the murders was rather confusing. I could not visualize the scene in the forest nor the construction of the Shroud as they got closer.
Little character development for Ana or Din until the very end. I was hoping to read Din engage in more combat as his muscle memory was a big deal in book 1, but I don’t think there was enough of that here.
The end was also more predictable than last time, but still a decent murder mystery.
