Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice by Adam Makos

5.0

First, a very heartfelt thank you to Net Galley for providing me with this book.

This is a gripping true-life story of love, friendship, sacrifice and courage like no other as it crosses boundaries of race and class. I liked that photos were included, which helps you picture the events more clearly (not to mention that it serves as a reminder that these are real people). While reading, I went through a gamut of emotions – disgust (racism and discrimination), love (what a relationship between Jesse and Daisy), fear (war), joy (racism and discrimination can be overcome), pride (in those who serve our country) and grief (losing those who serve), wonderment (how faith and love can carry you through tough times).

Extremely well-written and thoroughly researched. This book, no doubt, is sure to become a hit movie.
