The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee

5.0

The thing I love most about this book (other than Kyoshi herself) is the fact that it explores corruption and personal meanings of justice, (but literally Avatar always does this). But it’s about Kyoshi so it’s extra good. :3 I cried on multiple occasions and I’m a little ticked off at the cliff hanger…but it’s whatever. Reading Kyoshi grow as a person and recognize her role as the avatar was such an amazing journey because not only did we see the meaningful bonds she created, she also became comfortable in her own body and person. Before she had this tendency to sink back and make herself as small as possible as not to take up space (I’m not gonna lie, I don’t think that worked seeing as she’ll literally like 195 cm), but as she started shaping herself to fit the molds of an avatar she didn’t do that anymore!! I love her. Also the little love story between Kyoshi and Rangi was sooooooooooooo cute omg. T^T
