Lie Still by Julia Heaberlin

3.0

Pregnant lady moves to Texas with police chief husband, meets devilish Southern belles with dark secrets and gets dragged into several mysterious happenings, one including a stalker from her own past. There's a lot going on here, and I would have preferred fewer storylines, but all in all this was pretty entertaining. There's some dark stuff here: the protagonist is a rape survivor, which plays a big part in the story. Other women are abducted, tortured and killed. That said, I found the novel hilarious at times. Emily, our pregnant lady, has a wicked sense of humor and the filthy rich, completely insane society ladies are amusing, if not believable (at least I hope they don't really exist). I'm looking forward to reading Heaberlin's next crime novel.
