The Recruit was a surprisingly enjoyable read. I mean, I was aware it was more of a YA book than middle grade, despite selling bushels of the series to tween boy when I worked at Dymocks, but I just didn't picture it being all that great.
Sure, it won't win any prizes as character development is a bit weak, and there were a few plot threads I didn't quite grasp, but it was super engaging, had some cool characters, and was 100% action packed. I think I read the whole thing in 2 sittings!
Recommend: For sure! Don't go in with super high expectations, but it was definitely entertaining.
