Grave Memory
by Kalayna Price
Grave memory is the third book in the Alex Craft series and begins with Alex showing Rhianna their new office for their P.I. Agency, Tongues for the Dead. Yes, it’s the name Alex has been using for her business since book one, but since it was Rhianna’s idea in the first place, why not include her in on the business? Especially now that Rhianna has been spending more time outside of Faerie to help Alex, who suffered complete loss of eyesight after the events of book two.
Alex’s other friendships don’t appear to be going as well. Caleb is getting increasingly more irritated at the constant raids being ordered on his home by the FIB. It seems the winter queen is really not too happy about Alex not wanting to join her court. Tamara is feeling completely out of the loop, since both Alex and Holly missed a couple dinner dates due to the unpredictable passing of time at the eternal bloom, the only restaurant that Holly can eat at, now that she is addicted to Faerie food. The Nekros Police Department has been ordered to limit Alex’s involvement in cases, unless necessary, therefore putting her and John’s friendship at risk. Hurt feelings, and all. Death has made himself scarce lately and Alex finds herself without even her closest confidant. And Falin….he’s allowed to talk to her, but only in a professional manner. So, her social life is taking a serious hit.
Just as Rhianna and Alex leave their new office, prepared to go meet with Holly for dinner they are ear witnesses to a suicide. Yes, ear witnesses. They heard the man hit the car when he dove off the building. Despite evidence to the contrary though, the ghost of the man is adamant he would never have killed himself. But how can Alex prove to the police or the FIB that this case is more than just a suicide? As if that wasn’t enough, Alex is the prime suspect of an MCIB agent, who believes Alex is behind the recent ghoul infestation in the cemeteries.
I really enjoyed this novel, though it did have it’s slower moments. The case kept me interested as well as other interesting developments in the series.
