If you’re looking for consistency in characters and plot, don’t look for it in this book.

There are a LOT of problems with the very messy plot lines the author throws in constantly and I can usually see past them, but this one had me flipping back and forth between pages to figure out what the hell was going on for about 15 minutes.

The following spoilers are small ones that just point out the biggest editing inconsistencies:
Am I crazy or did Dawud go to the Vampire Court in chapter 38 but suddenly pops in to say a line in chapter 49 while the others are still with the Bloodletter?

Then again, on page 253, Dawud is in the scene for another line. But then they enter the scene a few paragraphs later.

The laziest and messiest editing I’ve seen in a while. Maybe the author should take this as a sign. Perhaps you don’t need 12 characters in every scene if you can’t keep track of them yourself.

Most disappointing of all was having to watch the characters regress. More often than not, the group was not the heroes we wanted or needed and indulged in being selfish and short sighted. The last chapters covered up the characters’ lapsed moments and moved on but it wasn’t enough to make me forget or find a reason to forgive.

I had so much fun with the first three books. The pages of the fourth are filled with descriptions and thoughts that do little to move the story forward, but instead just drag it out. I can’t say I’m excited for this series to continue. I can only hope for a little more growth at this point.
