This is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. I feel like I was underlining and annotating so much, just because the storyline hit so hard. I finished the first page and thought it would be a fun, lighthearted read, but it was much more than I could've ever expected. One of my favorite lines is this: "That's the power of literature, you know, it can act like a little love letter between people who can only explain their feelings by pointing out other people's."

The whole book's purpose was to point out that no one knows anything, really. That we're all just trying to explain things, when sometimes there isn't an explanation. And that's okay. It was story about how everyone is just doing the best they can, and that's more than adequate. There is just something about the way Backman describes characters that makes them so relatable, even if there's almost nothing we have in common. Simply the fact that we're all as tired, confused, and overwhelmed as everyone else.

It was a ridiculous plot and a chaotic jumble of characters that emotionally connected with me more than I could've imagined. This is the kind of book that teaches you something.
