Wow. Wintergirls.
Wintergirls is the kind of book a teenager who has struggled with adolescense is afraid to read.
Scared of the triggers. But also, scared of such a heavy subject being completely wasted and ruined. Wintergirls is also the kind of book that proves your fears wrong.
Those five stars I'm today giving to this brilliant book, don't come senseless. Five stars for how Laurie makes us feel Lia, feel bad for her, get mad at her, understand and then not. The reader is the only one Lia is transparent too, and that gives the reader a privilige that attaches to the vicious reading. Five stars because I did not expect all that took this story to its ending, the reality of it. Five stars for how every character was perfectly written and had its fair place in the book. The are plenty of reasons why this book deserves five stars, dozens rounds of applauses and recognition, but I keep forgetting because I'm just wide-eyed amazed with this story I finished ten minutes ago.
