Last Witnesses: An Oral History of the Children of World War II by Svetlana Alexiévich

5.0

The saddest, most heartbreaking reading experience I've ever had. Last Witnesses is sometimes impossible to read more than a page at a time given the atrocities depicted, and even those not as violent or tragic (few of those) are filtered through a surreal haze of memory that manages to jostle to the core.
