the book follows grace porter, who grew up the sole focus of her militant father, the colonel. she's recently gotten her phd in astronomy, she's got friends who are as close as family, and she's got a life plan. but one weekend in vegas, and she gets drunk and carried away, and she wakes up married to a stranger.

this is a book about what happens when plans fail you, what happens when the plans you made don't fit the life you want. and how to find what you love after years of doing what you think you're meant to. the wonderfully written romance aside, this is a coming of age novel for people who think they've already come of age. its Incredible and i cried more than once
