The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O'Brien
4.0

Vault of Dreamers was recommended to me by my friend, Jason. And, I'm so glad he recommended it.

In Vault of Dreamers, we meet Rosie Sinclair, a contestant/student at the Forge School. The school is for students of creative arts. It doubles as a reality show where the students get "blip rankings" which translate into cash when they finish school. The catch? The students have required sleep time for 12 hours daily. Rosie skips her sleep pill one day and discovers a world she never dreamed of.

Vault of Dreamers was an interesting dystopian novel with all the tropes required - young woman from a troubled dirt poor family in a place that constantly underestimates her, a love triangle between the poor working-class boy with a heart of gold and the rich too-good-too-be-true boy with skills, and the evil adults only out for themselves. Looking beyond the tropes, it had an amazing scary story that is strangely plausible. Until the technology got involved. It had an incredible ending and had me clamoring to see if there was a second book. (There is.)

Clever and interesting with familiar themes. Can't wait for book 2.
